Most people buy a refrigerator and only use it for chilling and preserving food, but they don't realize that a refrigerator has many other clever uses. These new uses can bring more convenience to your life.
Quickly soften beans
Red beans are difficult to cook through without soaking. It is recommended to first cook about 300g of red beans with 1000cc of water, let it cool, and then place it in the freezer for about 2 hours. After taking it out, a slight layer of ice will appear on the surface of the water. At this point, put the pot back on the stove to heat. The water and red beans will heat at different rates, and the temperature change will allow the red beans to soften in about 20 minutes.
Restore crispiness
If biscuits have become damp and are no longer crispy, but are still within their expiration date so it's a shame to throw them away, you can place them in the freezer for about 24 hours. Take the biscuits out, and with a gentle press of your finger, they will crumble. The texture will return to its original crispiness.
Re-harden soap
When soap becomes soft and sticky after contact with water, it becomes very inconvenient to use. You can place it in the freezer for about 30 minutes. The refrigerator can absorb the excess moisture from the soap, allowing it to harden again.
Remove chewing gum
When chewing gum accidentally sticks to an object, you can first place the object with the gum attached into the freezer. After about an hour, the gum will become hard and brittle. At this point, take the object out and you can easily peel off the gum with your fingernail.
Extend the life of pantyhose
Many women are troubled by pantyhose that often tear. New pantyhose should not be opened; place them directly in the freezer for 1-2 days. After taking them out, let them sit for about half a day before wearing. The temperature change increases the toughness of the pantyhose, and chilled pantyhose are less likely to break.
Prevent candles from dripping
Four hours before using a candle, first place it in the freezer. A chilled candle will burn slower and longer when lit, and it will also be less likely to drip wax.
Extend battery life
If a phone battery's standby time is shortened due to memory effect or aging, you can wrap the battery in newspaper, which can absorb excess moisture. Place it in a plastic bag and put it in the freezer for 3 days. Take it out, let it sit at room temperature for 2 days, and then recharge. This process can be repeated 3-4 times.
Cut egg yolks without breaking them
When you cut a freshly boiled egg or tea egg, the yolk always breaks. You can first refrigerate it for 1 hour. Once the yolk is slightly firmer, cut it. The cut will be clean, and the yolk will not break.
Remove pungent smell
When cutting pungent vegetables like onions, scallions, and garlic directly, the spicy smell can make you cry. You might want to place them in the freezer for 1 hour first. By the time you cut them, the pungent substances will have stabilized, and you won't be熏得流眼泪 (teary-eyed from the fumes).
The books collected at home can get pests over time. Wrap the books in a plastic film bag and place them in the freezer for 12 hours; the pests will be frozen to death. If books get wet, whether they are air-dried or sun-dried, they are prone to wrinkling and yellowing. You can flatten the wet book, place it in the freezer, and after two days, it will be restored to its original state—dry and flat.
Mellow the bitterness of bitter melon
Bitter melon has a heat-clearing effect, but some people don't like its bitter taste. If you put bitter melon in the refrigerator for a period of time before eating, the bitterness will be much milder.
Prevent rabbit fur from shedding
Rabbit fur clothes tend to shed hair. Before wearing, put them in the refrigerator for a few days, and the trouble of shedding hair will disappear.
Smooth silk clothes
Silk clothes become wrinkled after washing. Soft-textured clothes are troublesome to iron. You can put the clothes in a plastic bag and place them in the refrigerator for a few minutes. When you take them out to iron, it will be much easier.
Tastier fried rice
After cooked rice has cooled, place it in the freezer for 2 hours. Take it out and then stir-fry. The fried rice will be separated into individual grains, and each grain will be very chewy!
