According to survey data, in recent years, the incidence of breast cancer among women in major cities in China has been increasing year by year, ranking first among various types of female tumors. Among the many risk factors for breast cancer (such as marriage and childbirth, genetics, and diet), nutritional excess is one of the important factors.
Nutritional excess mainly refers to excessive intake of high-fat and high-calorie foods. Some researchers believe that primary school girls today eat too well, leading to nutritional excess and overweight, which may cause early menarche, increasing the risk of breast cancer in adulthood.
Studies have shown that excessive intake of unsaturated fatty acids can also lead to breast cancer, meaning that excessive consumption of vegetable oil can also induce breast cancer. This is because regardless of the type of oil, increased intake can lead to an increase in free fatty acids, which in turn increases the secretion of estrogen in the body. Long-term stimulation of the breasts by excess estrogen can cause hyperplasia of mammary epithelial cells, making them more prone to degeneration and cancer.
Obesity is related to poor eating habits. Surveys have found that obese individuals have a higher risk of breast cancer than the general population, possibly due to hormonal imbalances in their bodies. Women with apple-shaped and visceral obesity (mainly upper body obesity) have a significantly increased risk of breast cancer. It is reported that when the Body Mass Index (BMI) is greater than 25, the incidence of breast cancer is 9 times higher than that of individuals with normal weight. The incidence of breast cancer is not increased in women with pear-shaped obesity (slender waist, but large hips and thighs). Women who gain weight after middle age, especially when they suddenly gain weight in the waist and abdomen after menopause, have a higher incidence of breast cancer.
Therefore, obese women should scientifically adjust their diets, reduce the intake of fatty and oily foods, moderately increase their intake of coarse grains, fruits, and vegetables, and at the same time, increase exercise. In addition, women with large breasts should also regularly examine their mammary glands.
