A normal person secretes 1-1.5 liters of saliva daily. Besides aiding in eating and digestion, it also acts as a natural cleanser for the mouth. If saliva production decreases, it can easily lead to bad breath. For this reason, people who often have a dry mouth should drink more osmanthus tea. It not only promotes the production of saliva to quench thirst but also helps prevent and treat bad breath.
Osmanthus, also known as "Juli Xiang" (Nine-Mile Fragrance), has a fresh, pleasant scent. The "osmanthus water" obtained by distilling osmanthus is an excellent beverage for awakening the spleen, stimulating the appetite, soothing the liver, and regulating qi. It is also commonly used to relieve a sore throat, dry mouth, bad breath, and toothache; steeping osmanthus in tea has similar effects. Because osmanthus has a pungent and warm nature, it is best paired with a cooler green tea or oolong tea in the spring. Use 3 grams of dried osmanthus and 5 grams of green tea or oolong tea. Steep with boiling water for 6 minutes and it is ready to drink.

In addition, people with a weak constitution or those who often suffer from a cold stomach can drink a decoction of hawthorn and osmanthus. Combine 12 grams of osmanthus, 6 grams of hawthorn, and 3 grams of dangshen (Codonopsis root) in a small pot with 500ml of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce to the lowest heat and simmer for about 20 minutes. Strain the liquid, add a small amount of rock sugar, and let it cool. Drink it frequently as tea.
