In summer, there are a variety of probiotic drinks, but most of the time, they are not as nutritious as regular yogurt. The value of probiotic drinks lies in the bacteria they contain, and their protein content is very low. When you drink them, it is often unclear how many probiotics are still alive. Once the probiotic drink lacks sufficient probiotics or they have died, its nutritional value is equivalent to that of a glass of sugar water.
So-called probiotics are a general term for live microorganisms that exert beneficial effects by improving the balance of the intestinal flora. These bacterial strains may colonize in the body, so as long as these strains are added, the manufacturer must find a way to let you know, highlighting its benefits, such as regulating the intestinal flora, immune regulation, and so on. However, probiotics are not effective by just consuming one or two bacteria; a sufficient number of live bacteria must be reached to have a sufficient health effect. Current research shows that it must reach 10 to the 7th power or even 10 to the 8th power or more to have sufficient health activity.
However, so far, our country has not made any mandatory requirements for the live bacteria content of any probiotic in such products. More importantly, you cannot know exactly what proportion of probiotics are in the probiotic drink or yogurt you buy, and more importantly, what proportion of them are alive? Because probiotics must be stored at low temperatures, this "cold chain" cannot be broken. The longer the storage time, the longer they survive. Once they leave the refrigerated cabinet or refrigerator, few live bacteria remain. At this point, you are paying the price for probiotics but are actually drinking sugar water made with a little milk, a lot of sugar, and flavorings, which has almost no nutritional value.
But yogurt is different. Even if the probiotics it contains are few, it still has protein and calcium, at least the same nutritional value as milk. From this perspective, when you cannot confirm the quality of a probiotic drink, choosing yogurt is a better way to ensure nutrition.
