Menstruation often comes with lower back soreness, lower back pain, and a dragging pain in the lower abdomen, sometimes radiating to the back and upper thighs. Dysmenorrhea is a common physiological phenomenon among women, affecting one-third of the female population in China.
Nourishing Blood and Relieving Pain Porridge
Astragalus and Angelica tonify Qi and nourish blood. White Peony, glutinous rice, and brown sugar astringe yin and alleviate pain. Zelan invigorates blood, dispels stasis, and stops pain. Together, they replenish Qi and blood, strengthen the spleen and stomach, and relieve pain, making them the primary treatment for female dysmenorrhea.
Ingredients:
15g Astragalus, 15g Angelica, 15g White Peony, 10g Zelan, 100g glutinous rice.
Seasonings:
5g brown sugar.
Instructions:
1. Place the four ingredients—Astragalus, Angelica, White Peony, and Zelan—in a clay pot. Add plenty of water and simmer for 15 minutes, then strain the liquid.
2. Add the rice to the liquid and cook it into a porridge. When cooked, add the brown sugar and stir until it dissolves.
Note: Drink one bowl every morning and evening for 7 days before your period.
