How to eat pears for the best lung health? This is how to eat them in winter.

How to nourish the lungs in winter? Besides drinking plenty of plain water daily, it's also important to eat more lung-moistening fruits, such as pears. Pears have excellent effects for moistening the lungs and relieving coughs. Most people eat pears raw, but it's difficult to eat cold, raw pears in the cold winter. Therefore, nutritionists recommend several ways to prepare pears.

Pear Juice Congee

Ingredients: 2 fresh pears, 100g rice, appropriate amount of sugar.

Instructions: Wash the pears, peel and core them, then juice and set aside. Decoct the pear peels, pulp, and cores in water to extract the juice. Add rice to the juice and cook into congee. When cooked, stir in the pear juice and white sugar, and cook for another one or two boils before serving. Take 1 dose daily.

Effects: Can moisten the lungs and resolve phlegm. Suitable for lung-heat cough, dry cough, or dry mouth.

Fritillary Bulb Steamed Pear

Ingredients: 5g fritillary bulb powder, 1 large snow pear, appropriate amount of rock sugar.

Instructions: Wash the snow pear, cut it into pieces, and place it in a bowl with the fritillary bulb and rock sugar. Steam until cooked. Take 1-2 times daily.

Effects: Can resolve phlegm and relieve cough. Suitable for phlegm-heat cough.

Rock Sugar Steamed Pear

Ingredients: 1 snow pear, appropriate amount of rock sugar.

Instructions: Wash the pear, peel it, and cut off the top to use as a lid. Use a small knife and spoon to scoop out the core from the middle. Place rock sugar in the center, put the lid back on, and place the prepared pear in a deep dish or bowl. Steam in a steamer for about 1.5 hours until the pear is soft.

Red Jujube and Tremella Steamed Snow Pear

Ingredients: A few red jujubes, 100g tremella (snow fungus), 1 snow pear, 50g rock sugar.

Instructions: Soak the tremella until soft, wash it, and tear it into small pieces. Halve the red jujubes. Wash and cut the pear into pieces. Pour 2/3 of the water into a clean clay pot, add the tremella, red jujubes, and pear. Cover, bring to a boil over high heat. After it boils, reduce the heat to low, and leave the lid slightly ajar. Simmer for 30 minutes. Add rock sugar after 2 minutes, cook until the sugar dissolves, turn off the heat, and let it cool before eating.
