Infertility is becoming increasingly common, which is closely related to our daily diet and lifestyle habits. Traditional Chinese medicine reminds us that some foods can affect sperm quality in men and should be consumed as little as possible.
1. Beer
If you already have kidney disease and drink beer excessively without restriction, uric acid can build up, leading to obstruction of the renal tubules and kidney failure.
2. Fried Chicken
Experts point out that grilled and fried starchy foods contain a carcinogenic toxin called acrylamide, which can lead to oligospermia and asthenospermia in men. Additionally, heavy metals like cadmium and pesticide residues are toxic to sperm.
3. Tofu
According to recent reports from several American media sources, a study by the Harvard School of Public Health found that daily consumption of soy products can significantly decrease sperm count in men. Soy products have an adverse effect on the male reproductive system, particularly sperm production. Soy and its products are rich in isoflavones, a type of phytoestrogen. Excessive intake can naturally affect the level of male hormones in the body, leading to a series of negative consequences.
4. Coffee
The stimulating effect of coffee comes from caffeine, which stimulates the body's sympathetic nervous system. This system controls daytime activities, and when stimulated, it makes a person feel more alert and energetic. The parasympathetic nervous system, on the other hand, is responsible for nighttime physiological functions and erections. It has an internal relationship with the sympathetic nervous system. When the sympathetic nervous system is overactive, the relatively weaker parasympathetic nervous system can be suppressed, which clinically manifests as a decreased libido.
5. Milk Tea
The pearl milk tea commonly available on the market is primarily made from hydrogenated vegetable oil, which is a source of trans fatty acids. Trans fatty acids can reduce the secretion of male hormones, negatively impact sperm motility, and interrupt the body's processes related to sperm reaction.
