Food Soldiers Against Radiation

Computers, induction cookers, and microwaves have brought countless conveniences to life, but the radiation they generate has also become a major source of trouble. How can we stay away from the harm of radiation? Taiwan's "Common Health" magazine recently reported, based on various studies, that some foods contain "elite" nutrients that fight radiation, helping us resist its dangers.

Team 1: Red fruits like tomatoes, watermelons, and red grapefruits

Anti-radiation weapon: Lycopene. Found in many red fruits, with the highest content in tomatoes. It has an extremely strong ability to scavenge free radicals and has effects such as anti-radiation, preventing cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, improving immunity, and delaying aging. It can also greatly improve allergic symptoms like dry and itchy skin and protect against ultraviolet rays.

Recommended menu: Scrambled eggs with tomatoes. Lycopene is better absorbed after being cooked with oil, so it's better to eat it cooked than raw.

Team 2: Various beans, olive oil, sunflower oil; cruciferous vegetables like mustard greens, cabbage, and radishes; and fresh fruits like fresh jujubes, oranges, and kiwis

Anti-radiation weapon: Vitamin E and Vitamin C. The foods listed above are the main sources rich in these two antioxidant vitamins. They can reduce the peroxidation reaction caused by computer radiation, like putting a "bulletproof vest" on our skin, thereby reducing the damage of radiation to the skin.

Recommended menu: Mixed salad with olive oil. Both Vitamin E and Vitamin C are not heat-resistant, so eating them raw maximizes their effectiveness. Additionally, a salad allows you to eat a variety of vegetables and fruits at once, and pairing it with olive oil enhances the effect.

Team 3: Cod liver oil, animal liver, chicken, egg yolks; and broccoli, carrots, spinach, etc.

Anti-radiation weapon: Vitamin A and beta-carotene. These foods are rich in Vitamin A and beta-carotene, which can protect the eyes well. Therefore, they not only help resist the harm of computer radiation but are especially effective in protecting the eyes from radiation damage.

Recommended menu: Stir-fried carrots with broccoli. Beta-carotene is a fat-soluble vitamin and needs to be stir-fried with oil for better absorption.

Team 4: Sesame seeds, malt, and Astragalus membranaceus; followed by yeast, eggs, beer; seafood like lobster and tuna; and garlic, mushrooms, etc.

Anti-radiation weapon: Selenium. The trace element selenium has antioxidant effects, playing an anti-radiation and anti-aging role by blocking the body's peroxidation reactions.

Recommended recipe: Black sesame paste. Sesame is not only rich in selenium but also in Vitamin E, which has antioxidant effects. The combination of the two makes the effect stronger.

Team 5: Green tea, mung beans, etc.

Anti-radiation weapon: Lipopolysaccharide and Vitamin A precursor. If you're not used to drinking green tea, chrysanthemum tea is also effective. Modern medical research has confirmed that mung beans can help expel toxins from the body, accelerate metabolism, and effectively resist various forms of pollution.

Recommended menu: Mung bean soup, green tea. There is a common saying that "mung bean soup detoxifies all poisons." Drinking green tea and mung beans daily not only allows you to ingest effective anti-radiation ingredients but also replenishes fluids and boosts metabolism.

Team 6: Kelp

Anti-radiation weapon: Kelp colloids and alkaline food. Kelp is the nemesis of radioactive substances. In addition, kelp is an "internal cleanser" for the body. It is an alkaline food that helps maintain the body in a slightly alkaline environment.

Recommended menu: Kelp and seaweed soup. Kelp and seaweed are "close relatives," and making soup with both creates a powerful combination that is more effective.
