Some people lack a specific enzyme, and consuming fresh fava beans can lead to favism, a hemolytic syndrome characterized by general weakness, anemia, jaundice, liver enlargement, vomiting, and fever. If not treated promptly, it can lead to death from severe anemia.
3. Daylilies
Next are daylilies. Their toxic substance, colchicine, after entering the human body, can cause a dry throat, thirst, a burning sensation in the stomach, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
4. Fresh Wood Ear Mushrooms
Fresh wood ear mushrooms contain a photosensitive substance. After consumption, it circulates with the blood and distributes to the body's epidermal cells. When exposed to sunlight, it can cause solar dermatitis. This toxic photosensitive substance is also easily absorbed by the pharyngeal mucosa, leading to pharyngeal edema.
5. Tremella
