Cherry tomatoes are what we commonly call cherry tomatoes, and these small tomatoes are not genetically modified at all. They are a new variety cultivated through breeding, so there's no need to be too disappointed even if you buy them. Besides being a miniaturized version of regular tomatoes by several times, there isn't much difference in taste when you eat them.
It's also great to eat cherry tomatoes as a snack; just a quick rinse is all it takes. One can fit right in your mouth for a happy chew, unlike big tomatoes where the juice might splash out and stain your clothes, which are hard to wash, and you might get a spanking from your mom when you get home. However, for cooking, regular tomatoes are more practical. Cherry tomatoes are good for making salads.
Perhaps we feel uneasy about genetically modified foods, as they are not yet considered very safe, and nobody really likes them. But for cherry tomatoes, you can still enjoy a whole bunch. Just wash them and pop them in your mouth, or juice them for a tasty drink, though they have a bit of a bloody taste that some children might not accept.
