Most men turn their noses up at "feminine" foods like vegetables and fruits, preferring to call themselves carnivores. However, a recent report from the British Food Institute indicates that consuming a small amount of broccoli every week can help prevent prostate cancer. Additionally, some common vegetables are also known for their aphrodisiac properties and can even prevent cancer.
1. Broccoli
In the study, participants were divided into two groups, with one group consuming four servings of broccoli and the other consuming peas each week. The results showed that the group that ate broccoli developed "anti-cancer genes" that can protect men from prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is the second leading cancer killer among men, after lung cancer, with 680,000 new cases diagnosed globally each year and 220,000 deaths resulting from it. This first human clinical trial was recently published in the journal "PLOS ONE." Besides broccoli, other cruciferous vegetables like cauliflower and red cabbage also have significant anti-cancer effects and men should eat more of them.
2. Tomato
"It's worth noting that tomatoes are a fruit and vegetable that men shouldn't miss," experts explain. They are not only rich in vitamin C, but the lycopene they contain also helps "unclog" glands and prevent prostate diseases.
3. Spinach
Furthermore, men should learn from Popeye and eat more spinach. The magnesium in spinach helps convert carbohydrates in muscles into usable energy, increasing male muscle strength. Of course, for men, an even more significant benefit of spinach is that its folic acid and iron promote the synthesis of red blood cells, increase the blood's oxygen-carrying capacity, and improve blood circulation, which can fundamentally enhance the quality of a man's sex life.
