Controlling calorie intake helps slow down aging.

Want fewer wrinkles and to defy the signs of aging? American researchers suggest trying to eat less, which can help slow down the aging process, allowing you to live a longer, more youthful life.

Brigham Young University researchers conducted experiments on two groups of mice to test the effects of calorie intake on aging. One group of mice could eat as much as they wanted, while the other group was restricted, consuming 35% fewer calories than the former. The results showed that the mice with controlled food intake were more energetic and less prone to illness.

In an article published in the journal "Molecular & Cellular Proteomics," the researchers stated that eating less can slow down the activity of ribosomes, which are involved in protein synthesis. This reduces protein production while giving the ribosomes time for self-repair, which in turn slows down the body's natural aging process, such as fewer wrinkles, their appearance being delayed, and graying hair occurring later.

John Price, the author of the research report, explained that ribosomes are like a car that requires regular maintenance and replacement of worn parts. Reducing food intake can help this "car" function better through a series of biochemical changes, thereby slowing down aging. However, Price cautioned against relying solely on counting calories to stay young forever.
