Rich and delicious nougat not only has a great texture but is also quite filling, making it a perfect snack to boost your energy between meals. Today, I'm going to teach you how to make delicious peanut nougat from scratch.
Ingredients: 180g marshmallows, 80g or 100g milk powder (increasing the milk powder slightly can make the nougat texture softer), 20g butter, 200g peanuts, 20g sesame seeds.
Tools: A non-stick pan, a silicone spatula, a non-stick tray, a rolling pin, a pair of kitchen scissors, and a food storage bag.
Instructions:
1. Roast the peanuts until fragrant, then remove the skins. Place them in a food storage bag, seal it, and crush with a rolling pin. Set aside.
2. Toast the sesame seeds over low heat, then place them in a small bowl and set aside.
3. Heat the pan over high heat, then reduce to low. Add the butter and let it melt. Pour in the marshmallows and stir continuously until they form a paste.
4. Sprinkle in the milk powder and mix well.
5. Add the peanuts and sesame seeds, continue to mix well, then remove from the heat. Immediately transfer to a non-stick tray. Using your hands wrapped in plastic wrap, press the mixture into a mold. Let it cool, then cut it into small pieces with kitchen scissors.
Notes:
1. Be sure to use a non-stick pan and a silicone spatula, as nougat is very sticky during the preparation process.
2. For a richer, softer texture, use more milk powder and shorten the cooking time. For a firmer, crunchier texture, use less milk powder and extend the cooking time.
3. The nougat will not be sticky once completely cooled. It is easier to cut into small pieces with kitchen scissors than with a fruit knife.
4. Peanuts can be replaced with an equal weight of almonds, cranberries, cashews, or shelled walnuts.
