As the weather gets hotter, the market for cold drinks is booming. The editor would like to remind everyone that after summer begins, cold drinks should be consumed in moderation. Certain patients should pay special attention to dietary restrictions, otherwise, it will affect their health. Specifically, the following groups of people should be especially cautious when consuming cold drinks.
First, the elderly and young children. Due to their weaker constitutions, consuming a large amount of cold drinks in a short period may lead to numbness or spasms in the oral muscles. The sudden cold stimulation to the gastrointestinal tract can irritate the intestinal mucosa, causing irregular contractions and possibly leading to abdominal pain. Due to the imbalance between hot and cold, the normal contraction and dilation of gastrointestinal blood vessels are adversely affected, resulting in gastrointestinal dysfunction, increased intestinal motility, and symptoms like diarrhea.
Second, diabetic patients. Cold drinks generally contain a high amount of sugar, which can cause blood sugar levels to rise and worsen the patient's condition.
Third, patients with duodenal ulcers, chronic gastritis, chronic colitis, cholecystitis, and indigestion. These patients have poor digestive system function, and consuming cold drinks can easily irritate the gastrointestinal mucosa and aggravate their condition.
Fourth, patients with cavities and dentin hypersensitivity. For these patients, eating cold drinks can trigger tooth pain.
Fifth, patients with hypertension, coronary heart disease, and arteriosclerosis. If these patients consume a large amount of cold drinks, it can suddenly stimulate the gastrointestinal tract, causing blood vessels to constrict and blood pressure to rise, which can worsen their condition and easily trigger a cerebral hemorrhage.
Sixth, patients with pharyngitis, bronchitis, bronchial asthma, and arthritis. Under the stimulation of cold drinks, these individuals may experience an aggravation of throat inflammation or trigger coughing, or cause a recurrence of old illnesses.
Seventh, patients with kidney disease. These patients should avoid consuming cold drinks containing ingredients such as essences, pigments, and fragrances, as these components can increase the burden on the glomerular filtration and detoxification function, and at the same time, can make edema symptoms more severe.
Eighth, obese patients. Cold drinks are high in sugar, which can increase liver glycogen, convert to fat, make the body more obese, and easily induce fatty liver and hyperlipoproteinemia.
