Sweating profusely for no reason indicates a deficiency in the body, which in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is known as "hyperhidrosis." If sweating occurs mostly at night, it is called "night sweats." Children who sweat excessively need to change their clothes frequently, as wearing damp clothes can make them susceptible to colds. If this deficiency is not improved, the child will develop more and more health problems as they grow older.
We can use American ginseng, floating wheat, and red dates, along with black sugar, to improve a child's deficient and cold constitution. Black sugar has the function of invigorating blood and tonifying the body, and can treat night sweats. When cooking, pay attention to the amount of black sugar used. Too much black sugar will increase the burden on the child's body; too little, and the smell cannot mask the taste of American ginseng, making it harder for the child to accept.
Suitable for
● People who have taken long-term Western medicine or consumed too many cold drinks, leading to a weak digestive system, poor appetite, and easy fatigue.
● People who have restless sleep, light sleep with many dreams, thirst at night, and wake up with their clothes soaked in sweat.
● People who overuse their brain or overthink, leading to neurasthenia with symptoms of dazedness, forgetfulness, insomnia, and depression.
Method
Ingredients: 2 qian of American ginseng, 3 qian of floating wheat, 12 red dates, and an appropriate amount of black sugar. (Note: Floating wheat refers to the wheat grains that float in water. It is sold in Chinese medicine shops. It is sweet and cold in nature, rich in vitamins and protein, and can treat night sweats and deficient sweat.)
Wash all the herbs and place them in a clay pot. Add 3 bowls of water (about 600 ml), bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to medium-low heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Then add black sugar and continue to cook for 3 minutes.
Contraindications
Not suitable for people with high blood sugar or diabetes. Not suitable for people with an inflamed digestive tract, experiencing thirst, stomach pain, constipation, or diarrhea. Additionally, a clay pot must be used for cooking. Most blood-toning herbs are not suitable for cooking in an iron pot, as the active ingredients in herbs such as prepared Rehmannia root and Angelica sinensis will bind with iron.
