Five things to look at and three ways to drink when consuming cold beverages.

Summer is here, and people often choose to eat cold drinks to cool down, but do you know that eating cold drinks requires "five checks and three don'ts"?

Five checks for choosing cold drinks

1. Check if the permits and licenses are complete and valid. Some temporary stalls, to escape supervision from relevant departments, sell homemade drinks on the streets without any permits or licenses, and their hygiene and quality cannot be guaranteed at all.

2. Check if the "QS" mark is labeled on the outer packaging. Since July 1, 2005, China has implemented quality and safety certification for cold drink products such as frozen drinks, purified water, and mineral water. Cold drink products with the "QS" mark on their outer packaging are of better quality, and their hygiene and safety are guaranteed.

3. Check if the packaging is intact and undamaged. It is best not to buy cold drinks with rough, cracked, or deformed packaging. In addition, you should also carefully check whether the outer packaging clearly indicates the product name, manufacturer's name, address, main ingredients, net weight, hygiene license number, production date, shelf life, and other information.

4. Check the product's color. If the color is overly bright, it may be due to excessive color additives. In addition, the product should be clear, transparent, free of impurities, not turbid, and without sediment; otherwise, it indicates that the product has expired or gone bad.

5. Check if it is a product from a well-known brand. The manufacturers of well-known brand products mostly have advanced production equipment, good hygiene environments, and strict operating procedures. Their product and service quality are better, which can guarantee the hygiene and safety of cold drink products.

Three "don'ts" for eating cold drinks

Don't eat too much. The intake of cold drinks at one time should be about 150ml, otherwise, the gastric mucosa will be damaged by the low temperature.

Don't eat too fast. If you gulp down a can of frozen cola or eat several popsicles at once, the damage to the stomach is hard to make up for.

Don't eat before or after meals. Eating cold drinks before meals can easily affect appetite. Eating cold drinks immediately after meals can easily slow down gastrointestinal motility or reduce gastric acid secretion, leading to bacterial growth and causing diseases such as gastroenteritis.
