Although milk is nutritious, it should not be consumed with fruit juice, chives, or oranges. This is mainly because the protein in milk will coagulate upon encountering acid, affecting absorption. Milk cannot be eaten with the following fruits:
1. Milk and chives or spinach cannot be eaten together
Mixing milk with chives, which are high in oxalic acid, will affect the absorption of calcium.
2. Milk and fruit juice cannot be eaten together
More than 80% of the protein in milk is casein. In an acidic environment, casein is prone to coagulation, which can easily lead to indigestion and diarrhea. Therefore, it is recommended not to eat fruit immediately after consuming milk or dairy products.
3. Oranges and milk cannot be eaten together
Oranges should not be eaten about 1 hour before or after drinking milk. This is because the protein in milk will coagulate once it comes into contact with the citric acid in oranges, thereby affecting the digestion and absorption of the milk. During this period, other acidic fruits should also not be consumed.
