The "Yin Zheng Yao Zhi" states: "Pork and beef should not be eaten together." This is mainly from the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Firstly, from the perspective of medicinal properties of food, pork is sour and cold, slightly cool, while beef has a sweet and warm nature and the function of pacifying the middle and replenishing qi. The two are one warm and one cold; one replenishes the spleen and stomach, while the other is greasy and depletes the body. Their medicinal properties conflict, so they are not suitable to be eaten together. 2. Pork and Sheep Liver
Traditional Chinese Medicine says: "Eating pork and sheep liver together causes heart oppression." In terms of medicinal properties, the combination is not advisable.
Sheep liver has a gamy smell, and when stir-fried with pork, it easily produces an odd flavor. From a culinary perspective, they are also not a good match. 3. Pork and Soybeans
From the perspective of modern nutrition, beans are not suitable to be paired with pork because they have a high content of phytic acid, with 60%~80% of phosphorus existing in the form of phytic acid. It often forms complexes with proteins and mineral elements, affecting the availability of both and reducing their utilization efficiency. This is because the minerals in beans, such as calcium, iron, and zinc, bind with those in lean meats like pork and fish, interfering with and reducing the human body's absorption of these elements. 4. Pork and Coriander
Coriander is pungent and warm, which depletes qi and harms the spirit. Pork is greasy and promotes damp-heat and phlegm. One depletes qi, while the other offers no nourishment. Therefore, consuming them together is harmful to the body. Coriander, also known as cilantro, can remove gamy odors and is suitable to be eaten with mutton.
