Sweetened fruit juice drinks can easily lead to diabetes

U.S. researchers released a report on the 28th stating that sweetened fruit juice drinks can easily lead to weight gain and increase the risk of developing diabetes. Researchers at Boston University studied 44,000 Black women, investigating their dietary habits between 1995 and 2005.

The study found that compared to those who consumed no more than one serving of regular soft drinks per month, those who drank two or more servings per day had a 24% higher chance of developing type 2 diabetes. Compared to those who consumed no more than one serving of sweetened fruit juice drinks per month, those who drank two or more servings per day had a 31% higher chance of developing type 2 diabetes. Sugar-free soft drinks, grapefruit juice, and orange juice do not increase the risk of diabetes.
