On the way to work every day, I see many friends and students who skip breakfast at home and rush out, either eating while walking or bringing their food to eat in the car. Not only is this practice unrefined, but it is also extremely harmful to our bodies.
Eating while riding in a vehicle or walking is no exaggeration to say that it harms the function of the nervous system. There are many vehicles on the road, and various bacteria and viruses are also numerous. Currently, the number of motor vehicles in Beijing is increasing by 1,000 vehicles per day, having risen from 1.31 million in 1998 to the current 3.05 million. Vehicle exhaust emissions have become the main source of air pollution in Beijing's atmospheric environment. When you are in the constant flow of traffic, you will smell a pungent odor, which contains a large amount of pollutants. Vehicle exhaust mainly contains four major pollutants: carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides, and lead.
Carbon Monoxide: Carbon monoxide has a strong affinity for hemoglobin in human red blood cells, thereby weakening the function of blood transporting oxygen to various tissues, causing functional disorders in sensation, reaction, comprehension, memory, and other abilities. In severe cases, it harms the circulatory system.
Hydrocarbons: The direct harm of hydrocarbons to human health is not yet clear.
Nitrogen Oxides: They are harmful to the respiratory system.
Symptoms of Lead Poisoning: The manifestations are very extensive, such as dizziness, headache, insomnia, dreams, memory loss, fatigue, loss of appetite, upper abdominal bloating, belching, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, anemia, peripheral neuritis, etc. Severe poisoning cases show obvious liver damage, with symptoms such as jaundice, enlarged liver, and abnormal liver function.
Among the more than 200 organic compounds emitted by cars, components such as benzene and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons have strong carcinogenic effects and have a long-term cumulative effect in the human body.
Some lead dust from car exhaust is suspended in the atmosphere, enters the car cabin with the airflow, and when you eat inside the car, the exhaust will inevitably contaminate the food. The harm caused by eating contaminated food can be imagined.
In addition, drivers inevitably have to swerve, yield, or brake suddenly while driving. If you are eating in the car, you cannot concentrate on safety, which is unfavorable to both yourself and others.
