Easy Nutritious Breakfasts

One Egg Custard a Day

The egg custard is smooth, tender, and delicious, nutritious, and simple and easy to make.

Method: Crack an egg into a small rice bowl, beat and mix it with chopsticks. Add a heaping spoonful of salt, a little chopped green onion, then add cold water to two-thirds of the bowl. Drizzle in a few drops of soybean oil, place it in a steamer, and it will be ready in about three minutes after the water comes to a boil.

Tip: Gently poke it with a chopstick; it's done when the custard is set and pale yellow. Golden and Silver Steamed Buns, Rice Porridge, and Marinated Cucumber Strips

The steamed buns need to be prepared in advance. If you make them yourself, add a bag of milk and a spoonful of sugar when proofing the dough. The resulting buns will have a milky aroma, be white, tender, and delicious. Golden buns: Beat an egg and mix well. Coat the buns with the egg and deep-fry in a wok until golden brown, then remove and serve on a plate. Silver buns are simply the plain, small steamed buns.

Rice Porridge: You can cook various kinds of rice porridge. For a quick and easy option, you can also use instant rice porridge, which is sold in supermarkets.

Marinated Cucumber Strips: Slightly flatten the cucumber, then cut it into small pieces. Add half a spoonful of salt and marinate for ten minutes. Drain the saltwater, place in a dish, and add a little MSG and minced garlic to mix well.

Tip: The golden and silver buns can be made in advance and heated in the microwave the next morning. You can also add cooked chicken leg meat (shredded) to the cucumber strips and mix them together for a better taste.
