As the saying goes, "Food is the first necessity of the people, and water is the first necessity of food." So, how much water should people drink every day? Relevant experts suggest that normal adults should supplement with 2000 milliliters of boiled water daily.
Yu Yanling, head of the Public Health Department of the Heilongjiang Provincial Health Supervision Institute, told reporters that the daily water intake for people is related to factors such as age, individual differences (such as height, weight, gender), amount of exercise, climate change, health status, diet, and occupation.
Using the daily water intake of a normal adult as the standard, the physiological requirement is about 3 liters. Approximately 1 liter of water is absorbed daily from meals, vegetables, soups, and fruits. Therefore, 2000 milliliters of boiled water should be supplemented. In daily life, some people prefer to drink tea, milk, coffee, juice, alcohol, and other beverages. Even so, the amount of boiled water supplemented should generally not be less than 1000 milliliters.
According to reports, due to individual differences, obese people need more water because they have a larger body surface area and excrete more water, so they should increase their intake by 10% compared to normal people, while thinner people should reduce it by 10%.
In addition, an additional 500 to 2000 milliliters should be added based on the daily amount of exercise. Especially after strenuous exercise, it is necessary to slowly and repeatedly supplement a large amount of water, or diluted salt water or beverages. In summer, drink about one-third to one-half more water than in winter; maintain a balance during spring and autumn.
People with illnesses should follow their doctor's advice. For example, patients with nephritis edema or cirrhosis ascites should drink less water. Boiler workers, steelworkers, smelters, and geological and mining workers should drink one-third more water than normal people, with a daily intake of about 4000 milliliters or more. According to current information, properly cooled boiled water that meets standards should be the best beverage.
