Five Important Things to Note When Eating Malatang.

Malatang and Hotpot, while delicious, can also hide dangers. Expert Wang Jian advises that you must take precautions when eating them:

1. Clean the hotpot pot promptly:

After a common copper hotpot is not in use, a thin layer of green copper rust can easily grow, so the cleaning work must be done well;

2. The fire under the hotpot must be strong:

If you eat before the contents are brought to a boil and thoroughly cooked, bacteria and parasite eggs are not completely killed, which can easily cause digestive diseases;

3. Hotpot food should not be too hot:

The oral cavity, esophagus, and stomach lining can generally only tolerate temperatures of 50°C to 60°C. Food that is too hot can damage the mucous membranes, leading to acute esophagitis and acute gastritis. Being too greasy can easily lead to hyperlipidemia, stomach diseases, duodenal ulcers, cholelithiasis, oral ulcers, gingivitis, and hemorrhoids. It is recommended to keep it light and moderately spicy;

4. Do not drink the hotpot broth:

The hotpot broth boils for a long time without being changed. The purine substances from meat and seafood mostly dissolve into the broth, so you must not drink it. Because a high concentration of purines is metabolized by the liver, it produces a large amount of uric acid, which can easily cause symptoms like gout and joint pain. In severe cases, it can also damage kidney function;

5. Ensure good ventilation when eating hotpot indoors:

Poor ventilation can lead to dizziness, listlessness, and other symptoms.
