Gastrodia Elata Should Not Be Abused
Some people now tout Gastrodia elata as a panacea for all dizziness and headaches, leading to its misuse. In reality, Traditional Chinese Medicine only uses Gastrodia elata to treat two types of headaches: those caused by hyperactivity of the liver and gallbladder, and those caused by wind-phlegm disturbing the upper body.
Patients with chronic dizziness and headaches, or those whose cause has not yet been identified, will not achieve satisfactory therapeutic effects if they place excessive expectations on Gastrodia elata and take it in large quantities or for a long period in their eagerness for a quick cure. It may even lead to adverse reactions.
