Five fruits to avoid overeating in spring
Introduction: Most people know what foods to eat in spring to promote their health. But do you know what, if eaten in excess, can cause problems in spring? The following lists five fruits that should not be eaten too much in spring. Don't let your gluttony create hidden dangers for your body.
Strawberry
Traditional Chinese medicine believes that strawberries have the effects of reducing internal heat, relieving summer heat, and clearing heat. In spring, people's liver fire is often more vigorous, and eating some strawberries can have a suppressive effect. In addition, it is best to eat strawberries after meals because they contain a lot of pectin and fiber, which can promote gastrointestinal motility, aid digestion, improve constipation, and prevent hemorrhoids and colon cancer.
Strawberries that are hollow in the middle, misshapen, irregularly shaped, and excessively large are, with very few exceptions, new high-yield varieties. Most are caused by the excessive use of hormones. After using ripening agents or other hormone drugs, the growth cycle of strawberries is shortened, and the color becomes brighter, but it dilutes the inherent aroma of the strawberry, making it lack freshness when eaten.
Sugarcane
Most sugarcane in spring is leftover from autumn. After being stored for a whole winter, it is very prone to spoilage, with絮状 or茸毛状 white substance appearing at the end of the sugarcane. After cutting it, there will be red, thread-like substances on the cross-section. Some people do not select carefully when buying sugarcane, and when they see the red thread-like substances after cutting, they mistakenly think it is a normal phenomenon, and as a result, they get poisoned after eating it.
Pineapple
Some people experience allergic reactions such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea, numbness of the lips, and itchy skin after eating pineapple. This is because pineapple contains bromelain and bioflavonoids. To prevent allergic reactions, pineapple must be soaked in light salt water for more than ten minutes after being cut to destroy the bromelain before eating.
Banana
In order to make the banana peel tender yellow and good-looking, some unscrupulous vendors use excessive sulfur dioxide to ripen them, but the pulp is still hard and not sweet at all. Sulfur dioxide is harmful to the human body. The correct method should be to ripen them by heating and fumigation.
Grape
Some unscrupulous vendors and growers dilute ripening agents ethylene with water in a certain ratio, and soak unripe green grapes in the diluted solution. After a day or two, the green grapes will turn into purple grapes.
