Eat light, don't overindulge in cold things, and don't be afraid of dark clothes getting dirty

This year's first "fu" period starts on July 13th, and the highly anticipated "first patch" of the winter disease summer treatment is about to begin. How can you achieve the best therapeutic effect? Let me tell you about the following precautions.

Before Application: Skin Care, Avoid Spicy Food, and Consultation. First, maintain a regular routine and a light diet. Li Dongxiao said, it's best to avoid spicy and cold foods for 1-2 weeks, such as seafood, chili, garlic, beef and mutton, fresh lychees, cold dishes, and cold drinks should also be avoided as much as possible. Smoke less and do not drink alcohol to avoid weakening the medicinal effect.

Second, pay attention to protecting and cleaning the skin, especially the skin at the acupoints for application. Prepare for mosquitoes before going out to prevent redness, swelling, or infection from mosquito bites. The day before application, take a shower with a mild cleanser to remove oils from the skin's surface.

Finally, if you find sores on the skin at the acupoints or symptoms of acute infection such as fever, headache, diarrhea, or vomiting before application, you need to postpone the first patch. Liu Dequan said: "Don't worry if you can't apply it on time. A difference of one or two days will not affect the effectiveness." In addition, if a woman has a heavy menstrual flow, she can also appropriately postpone the application.

Many community hospitals in Beijing offer winter disease summer treatment. Regular patients can get the patch nearby without having to go to a large hospital. For first-time applicants, especially children who are not familiar with their own constitution, it is advisable to go to a large hospital for relevant consultations first.

During Application: Wear Loose Clothing to Prevent Allergies. When going for the application, it's best to wear loose, breathable, comfortable, and sweat-absorbent pure cotton clothes, not tight-fitting synthetic ones. To prevent the medicinal patch from staining clothes, it's best to wear dark-colored clothes that day. For first-time applicants or people with very sensitive skin, you can test at home beforehand if you are allergic to the adhesive tape. If you have any allergic symptoms, be sure to tell the doctor before the application so they can switch to an anti-allergic tape. If you are particularly sensitive to heat or sweat easily, you can also communicate with the doctor in advance. They may apply fewer layers of tape to make you more comfortable based on your situation; or choose to go to the hospital later in the afternoon, not during the hottest time of the day.

After Application: Do Not Extend the Time Yourself. After application, reduce physical activity and try to avoid sweating to prevent the patch from falling off. Bian Yongjun said: "You may feel warm after application, you can stay in a cool place, but do not overindulge in the cold. Do not immediately enter an air-conditioned room with a very low temperature, as the cold can cause pores to shrink and affect drug absorption. Also, do not point a fan or air conditioner directly at the applied area."

For the first application, adults should generally keep it on for 6-8 hours, and children for 2-3 hours. When the time is up, remove it on time. Do not extend the time on your own to enhance the effect. Liu Dequan said that in previous years, some patients extended the application time themselves, leading to skin allergies, which made the subsequent two applications impossible. In addition, some people may develop small blisters locally after application. Generally, no treatment is needed. Just keep the skin dry and clean. Do not scratch the blisters to prevent infection. Seek medical attention if necessary.
