Why don't some men like to eat fruit?
In daily life, some men don't like to eat fruit. Even when a host offers fruit to guests, male guests are less likely to accept it, preferring to drink tea instead of eating fruit. So why do some men dislike fruit? The reason lies in psychology. Many men believe that eating fruit seems unmanly; men should eat hearty meals of meat and drink strong liquor to display their masculinity!
So, should men eat fruit?
From the perspective of dietary health, the *Huangdi Neijing* (The Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon) established a basic principle long ago: "Grains are for nourishment, fruits are for supplementation, livestock are for benefit, and vegetables are for assistance." This requires people to have a balanced intake of the major food groups—grains, fruits, livestock, and vegetables—without neglecting any. Since fruit is an important food category, it is naturally indispensable. Therefore, regardless of gender, everyone should have a balanced diet, and fruit is a must.
However, many men in life almost never eat fruit, simply because they hold certain unhealthy misconceptions. Over time, their bodies will inevitably suffer from malnutrition or illness due to the lack of nutrients from long-term fruit avoidance, which Traditional Chinese Medicine considers dietary imbalance. With many types of fruit, each with its own benefits, long-term avoidance will lead to a deficiency of corresponding nutrients in the body. At this point, the body may not show clearly diagnosable diseases, and this harm is relatively hidden, thus easily overlooked.
The solution to correcting men's aversion to fruit is simple: change their misconceptions about the role of fruit and help them develop the habit of consciously consuming it in appropriate amounts. Female friends who enjoy fruit should also frequently remind men who don't to eat it, making them realize the importance of fruit for a balanced diet.
