Eggs are highly nutritious and a commonly consumed health food. Eggs are often eaten with other foods, but some foods should not be consumed with eggs.
Eggs and sugar should not be boiled together
Many places have the habit of eating poached eggs in sugar water. In fact, boiling eggs and sugar together causes the amino acids in the egg protein to form a compound called fructoselysine. This substance is not easily absorbed by the human body and can have adverse effects on health.
Eggs and soy milk should not be eaten together
People often eat eggs with soy milk, believing that since both are rich in protein, they are beneficial to the body. From a scientific dietary perspective, however, they should not be eaten together. This is because raw soy milk contains trypsin inhibitors, which can inhibit the activity of human proteases, affecting the digestion and absorption of protein in the body. The egg white contains viscous protein, which can bind with the trypsin in soy milk, hindering protein breakdown and thus reducing the body's absorption rate of protein.
Eggs should not be eaten with rabbit meat
Eggs also have a dietary taboo: they cannot be eaten with rabbit meat. The "Compendium of Materia Medica" states: "Eggs eaten with rabbit meat can cause diarrhea and dysentery." Rabbit meat is sweet, cold, and sour in nature, while eggs are sweet, neutral, and slightly cold. Both contain some biologically active substances, and when consumed together, they can react, stimulating the gastrointestinal tract and causing diarrhea.
Eggs are taboo when eaten with persimmons
Consuming them together can cause abdominal pain and diarrhea and easily form "persimmon stones." They should not be eaten with rabbit meat, carp, or soy milk. There is a folk custom of eating "mao dan" (unhatched chicken eggs), but "mao dan" actually contains a large number of bacteria and can easily cause poisoning.
