Healthy Diet: 4 Principles to Remember

Healthy Diet: Four Key Principles to Remember

Were you incredibly surprised when someone told you that a healthy diet can include desserts? I was too at first. In our usual perception, the first thing to avoid in a healthy diet is dessert. But we were all wrong. In fact, a healthy diet doesn't mean giving up desserts. By mastering the following four principles and maintaining a balanced diet, you can still be very healthy and fit.

One, Control Your Daily Calorie Intake from Desserts

Limit your daily dessert intake to between 100 and 150 calories. For a high-calorie dessert, limit it to between 250 and 300 calories. Although you don't have to eat dessert every day, you must calculate your daily intake to avoid exceeding the limit. Most importantly, don't think to yourself, "I haven't had dessert in days, so I'll make up for it all today." This is a major taboo in healthy eating.

Two, Eat More Whole Grains

Whole grains are a source of high fiber and antioxidants. The more you eat, the healthier you become. Therefore, try to eat more whole grain foods.

Three, Eat More Healthy Fats

Eat more healthy fats from nuts and seeds, such as peanuts and almonds. They not only contain the nutrients your body needs but can also help lower blood sugar and prevent you from consuming more sugar an hour later.

Four, Enhance the Nutritional Value of Every Meal

Improve the nutritional value of every meal. Dark-colored fruits, like strawberries and cherries, are rich in disease-fighting plant nutrients called polyphenols. (Dark chocolate also contains a large amount of polyphenols because it is made from 70% cocoa beans.) As early as 2008, researchers in Israel discovered that consuming polyphenols while eating high-fat foods can mitigate the health threats posed by those foods.

After reading these four principles of a healthy diet, do you think that achieving a healthy diet is actually quite easy? Then start memorizing these four principles now and begin your health plan.
