Today, fruit juice drinks have become a companion for many children. However, the harm of artificial colors in these drinks cannot be ignored: an excessive amount of colorings can easily accumulate in the underdeveloped digestive tract mucosa of children, leading to decreased appetite and indigestion, interfering with the function of various enzymes in the body, and adversely affecting metabolism and physical development.
Researchers from the University of Southampton in the UK surveyed 100 children and found that 70% of them had the habit of drinking beverages instead of water. These children often had poor appetite, were hyperactive, had irritable temperaments, and were insufficient in height and weight.
A retrospective survey of over a hundred cases of anemic children conducted by the Albert Einstein Medical Center in the US found that more than 80% of them had a preference for drinking fruit juice. Fruit juice contains a large amount of fructose, which can hinder the body's absorption of copper. Copper deficiency will affect the production of hemoglobin, leading to anemia.
Domestic survey data indicates that the physical development of children who are fond of drinking fruit juice drinks shows a polarization: they are either too thin or too overweight. Due to the excessively high sugar content in fruit juice drinks, children can obtain a significant amount of energy from them, which affects their intake of regular meals. Over time, this will inevitably lead to insufficient intake of protein, certain vitamins, minerals, and trace elements, affecting both physical and intellectual development.
For some children with a strong appetite, the excessive energy they get from the sugar in beverages, in addition to their regular meals, contributes to obesity.
Nowadays, parents of children in cities have weekends off. If they could make a small amount of fruit and vegetable juice at home, without adding colors, essences, or saccharin, it would allow their children to obtain vitamins, minerals, and trace elements. Why not do it!
