What to Do About Food Poisoning During an Outing
Spring has arrived, and many people are preparing to go out into the wild for an outing, picking wild vegetables to make dumplings, buns, and other foods at home. If you are not a professional, it is advisable not to eat wild vegetables indiscriminately. Once food poisoning occurs, it will not only harm your body but also affect your mood. In case of food poisoning, please refer to the following first-aid methods:
1. Induce vomiting: This is a very simple but highly effective method. The method is to gently scratch the back of your throat with a clean finger, or you can use chopsticks, a spoon, etc. At the same time, you can drink some salt water, which has the effect of replenishing fluids and washing the stomach. This is especially important if you have mistakenly eaten poisonous mushrooms in the wild, as you should induce vomiting as soon as possible. It should be noted that vomiting is only significantly effective within two hours after eating. If the person is unconscious, do not induce vomiting to prevent vomit from blocking the airway.
2. Catharsis: After two hours of eating, the food has already reached the small and large intestines, at which point inducing vomiting is not effective, and you should consider catharsis. You can take traditional Chinese medicine rhubarb steeped in boiling water, or you can use mirabilite, which is anhydrous sodium sulfate. However, note that catharsis is for young people with a strong constitution. It should be used with caution for children and the elderly to avoid causing dehydration or electrolyte imbalance.
Vinegar has a certain ability to kill and inhibit bacteria. It also has a certain preventive and therapeutic effect on diarrhea, so when you have eaten expired or spoiled food at home, you can first take it with vinegar mixed with hot water. Milk or egg whites contain protein, which can alleviate heavy metal poisoning. However, if the situation is serious, you should seek medical attention promptly.
