Fruit that has had the rotten parts removed should not be eaten.

For various reasons, improperly stored fruit often rots after being purchased. Consequently, some people cut away the rotten parts and eat the remaining, unspoiled portions. Some street vendors also often sell partially rotten fruit at a lower price. Many people believe that removing the rotten part and eating the rest poses no health risk. In reality, this is a misconception.

Because even though the remaining part is unspoiled, the majority of it has already been infiltrated by various harmful substances produced during the metabolic process of microorganisms. This is especially true as the proliferation of fungi on the fruit accelerates, and a significant portion of these fungi produce toxins during their reproduction. These toxic substances can diffuse from the rotten part to the unspoiled part through the fruit juice, causing the unspoiled part to also contain microbial metabolites, particularly mycotoxins, just like the rotten part.

Particularly serious is the fact that some mycotoxins are carcinogenic. Therefore, even after the rotten part has been removed, the remaining fruit should not be eaten.
