Suppressed emotions harm health. Expressing joy is beneficial for health.

Humans have seven emotions: joy, anger, sorrow, thought, grief, fear, and surprise. These are all normal emotional activities. While not showing one's joy or anger is considered a traditional virtue with many benefits for oneself and others, and a sign of good breeding, failing to express or vent emotions when necessary and一味忍耐 (enduring everything) will undoubtedly harm one's health.

There is a limit to patience. Exceeding this limit is no longer acceptable. Expressing joy, to a certain extent, is beneficial for health. Take crying, for example. When sad or angry, having a good cry can release pent-up emotions, restoring emotional balance and calming the mind. Conversely, if one keeps all grievances bottled up, closes the door to their emotions, and appears carefree on the surface while bleeding and crying inside, it will worsen psychological and physiological imbalance, causing great harm to physical and mental health. Surveys have shown that many cancer patients had a long history of suppressing their emotions. Over 70% of breast cancer patients show signs of "liver qi stagnation," so-called "cancer personalities" are prone to tumors, with excessive patience being the most prominent symptom.

Of course, expressing joy requires self-control. As early as two thousand years ago, traditional Chinese medicine affirmed the relationship between emotions and health: "joy injures the heart," "anger injures the liver," "grief injures the kidneys," "sorrow injures the lungs," "overthinking injures the spleen," etc. Excessive emotions can also lead to physical and mental harm and induce illness. To manage your emotions, first, be self-aware; constantly monitor your emotions and understand your current state. Second, be tolerant; maintain an accepting attitude towards others, yourself, and situations. Third, find ways to relieve stress, such as having a good cry, confiding in friends, or having fun with them. In short, learn to control your emotions, rather than letting them control you.

We are not made of wood and stone, who can be without feelings? Heaven has given us the opportunity to express our emotions; why not seize it? There is nothing wrong with appropriately expressing joy. Let's enjoy a healthy, happy, and harmonious life!
