Many people are unaware that some of the most common foods in daily life are actually the biggest carcinogenic factors.
1. Salted Fish
Salted fish produces dimethylnitrosamine, which can be converted into a carcinogenic substance in the body. Shrimp paste, salted eggs, pickled vegetables, Chinese sausage, ham, and smoked pork also contain carcinogens and should be consumed as little as possible.
2. Barbecued Food
Barbecued beef, duck, lamb, goose, suckling pig, and lamb skewbs contain strong carcinogens and should not be eaten in large quantities.
3. Smoked Food
Smoked meat, liver, fish, eggs, and dried tofu contain the carcinogen benzopyrene. Frequent consumption can easily lead to esophageal and stomach cancer.
4. Fried Food
When fried until charred, carcinogenic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are produced. When coffee is burnt, benzopyrene increases 20-fold. Foods like fried cakes, stinky tofu, fried taro puffs, and youtiao (fried dough sticks) often use oil that has been reused multiple times, which can produce carcinogens at high temperatures.
5. Moldy Substances
Foods such as rice, wheat, beans, corn, and peanuts are prone to moisture and mold. After being contaminated by mold, they produce a carcinogenic toxin—aflatoxin.
6. Leftover Cooked Cabbage and Sauerkraut
These produce nitrites, which are converted into the carcinogenic substance nitrosamine in the body.
7. Betel Nut
Chewing betel nut is a factor that causes oral cancer.
8. Repeatedly Boiled Water
Repeatedly boiled water contains nitrites, which form carcinogenic nitrosamines after entering the human body.
9. Ham + Lactic Acid Beverages
Ham, bacon, and other similar meats in sandwiches, when consumed with lactic acid beverages, can easily cause cancer. To preserve meat products, food manufacturers add nitrates to prevent spoilage and the growth of botulinum bacteria. When nitrates come into contact with organic acids, they are converted into a carcinogenic substance called nitrosamine.
