1. Avoid drinking undercooked soy milk
Many people like to buy raw soy milk and heat it at home. When they see foam rising during heating, they mistakenly think it has boiled. In fact, this is a phenomenon caused by the expansion of organic substances in the soy milk, forming bubbles, not boiling. It is uncooked. Uncooked soy milk is harmful to the human body. Soybeans contain saponins, which can cause nausea, vomiting, and indigestion. They also contain other substances like enzymes and trypsin inhibitors, which can reduce the body's ability to digest protein. Lectins can cause blood clotting, and urease glycosides can interfere with iodine metabolism, inhibit the synthesis of thyroid hormones, and lead to compensatory thyroid enlargement. However, after being thoroughly cooked, these harmful substances are completely destroyed, making soy milk harmless to the body. The way to prevent soy milk poisoning is to boil it at a high temperature of 100°C to destroy the harmful substances. It should be noted that when boiling soy milk, a "false boil" phenomenon often occurs. It is necessary to stir it thoroughly with a spoon until it truly boils. If symptoms such as headache or difficulty in breathing appear after drinking soy milk, seek medical attention immediately. Do not delay to prevent a life-threatening situation.
2. Avoid adding eggs to soy milk
The reason is that the temperature of hot soy milk is not sufficient to fully heat the egg. Eggs can easily contain some pathogenic bacteria and allergens. If these components are not fully heated and inactivated, they may cause some adverse effects. This is especially true for "free-range chickens," whose laying environments are often unsanitary, making it difficult to guarantee hygiene conditions and increasing the likelihood of containing pathogenic bacteria.
3. Avoid drinking it with medication
Some medications can destroy the nutritional components in soy milk, such as tetracycline and erythromycin, which are antibiotic drugs.
4. Avoid storing it in a thermos
Soy milk contains substances that can remove scale from the inside of a thermos. Under suitable temperature conditions, bacteria in the bottle will multiply rapidly using the soy milk as a nutrient, and the soy milk will become sour and spoiled after 3 to 4 hours.
5. Avoid drinking excessive amounts
Drinking too much soy milk at once can easily lead to protein indigestion, causing discomfort symptoms such as bloating and diarrhea.
6. Avoid drinking it on an empty stomach
Most of the protein in soy milk is converted into energy and consumed by the body, so it cannot fully provide its nourishing effects. Eating starchy foods such as bread, pastries, or steamed buns while drinking soy milk can allow the protein and other nutrients in the soy milk to undergo enzymatic digestion more fully with the help of stomach acid, ensuring that the nutrients are fully absorbed.
