Nutritionist: Cohabitation makes women gain weight, but makes men healthier.

British scientists have recently warned that women who live with their boyfriends often develop unhealthy eating habits, leading to weight gain; however, the situation is the opposite for men, as living with a girlfriend long-term is beneficial to their health.

According to a report by British Sky News on April 5, the Human Nutrition Research Center at Newcastle University recently published a report titled "Complete Nutrition," which studied the diets and lifestyles of cohabiting men and women in the UK, North America, and Australia. The research results show that women living with boyfriends start consuming more high-fat and high-sugar foods, making them more prone to weight gain; while men reduce their intake of "bad foods," and after moving in together, the fat and sugar content in their diet decreases, and they eat more vegetables.

Nutrition experts at Newcastle University pointed out that during the "honeymoon period," boyfriends and girlfriends try to please each other to make a good impression, so they change their eating habits to suit their partner's tastes. This leads men to often eat lighter foods, such as salads, fruits, and vegetables; while women choose richer, more flavorful dishes, like curry and pasta sauces.

Additionally, women sometimes like to use eating to vent emotional stress, and when a romantic relationship ends, they often find they have gained a lot of weight, whereas men do not experience the same situation. Of course, women still have the strongest long-term influence on their partners' diet and lifestyle, as in most families, women are still the main force behind shopping and cooking.

Experts point out: "You can't blame unhealthy lifestyles and diets solely on your partner, as there are many other factors that can affect your habits. However, our research shows that romantic partners do have a significant impact on a person's lifestyle, and if you want to live a healthy life, you should consider this carefully."
