This view is well-known. Are all patients with cavities caused by a lack of willpower? Are the efforts of millions of parents so ineffective? Is it the result of grandparents and aunts and spoiling the younger generation? Or is this also related to the fact that candy itself can bring instinctive enjoyment? Even parents' prohibition on snacks cannot stop children's whimsical desires, at most, it just makes them say a few more words of repentance.
The craving for candy is common worldwide, and it is not limited to humans. For example, honey is not only favored by primitive tribes, indigenous peoples, and other people living in nature, but it is also highly cherished by bears. The African honey badger cannot be ignored here. This animal follows a bird called the "honeyguide" to find its food. When the seeds in various fruits and melons ripen, nature endows these fruits with beautiful colors and a honey-like taste. In this way, humans and other animals are attracted to help these plants spread their seeds everywhere.
Many people claim that human's need for candy is entirely instinctive. In an impressive experiment, researchers confirmed this by studying human's perception of taste. The subjects of this experiment were newborns who had not experienced any taste stimulation (not even the sweet taste of their mother's milk). The researchers first dripped bitter and sweet liquids into the mouths of these newborns respectively, and then photographed their reactions. The result was that the facial expressions of all babies were basically the same. When the bitter liquid flowed into their mouths, the babies' eyebrows immediately squeezed together, and their distorted expressions were filled with disgust. In contrast, when the sweet water dripped in, the expressions of these little ones immediately relaxed happily, and their faces were filled with brilliant smiles like little angels. How about it, want to eat sweets now?
