Introduction: According to a report on October 7 from NineMSN, one of Australia's largest portal websites, a new Chinese study published in the US journal "Alimentary Pharmacology & Therapeutics" has found that eating chicken and fish can significantly reduce the risk of liver cancer.

Researchers from Zhejiang Cancer Hospital conducted a comprehensive analysis of multiple related studies involving nearly 500,000 participants from 1956 to 2013. The results showed that higher consumption of white meat (such as chicken) and fish could reduce the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) by 22% to 31%. However, the researchers noted that there was no evidence to suggest that high intake of red meat, processed meat, or total meat consumption increases the risk of liver cancer.

The new study suggests that dietary intervention is a highly effective method for preventing liver cancer, but further research is needed to confirm these findings. Professor Ian Oliver, CEO of Cancer Council Australia, stated that there is limited understanding of the causes of liver cancer beyond alcohol and hepatitis, making this retrospective study of great significance for the prevention and diagnosis of liver cancer.
The new findings further demonstrate that white meat is more beneficial for overall health than red meat. Therefore, dietary adjustment and intervention are a powerful tool for reducing the risk of liver cancer. Scientists suggest that combining smoking cessation, alcohol moderation, and dietary adjustments will surely yield better cancer prevention effects.
