In life, we are constantly instilled with health tips, both directly and indirectly, and even believe many unverified rumors. But health preservation requires the right methods; blind health practices can only lead to physical harm. How many of these health "myths" have you fallen for?
I. Mushrooms and pears can clear the lungs.
Once this rumor spread, countless people rushed to eat mushrooms in large quantities without fear. Of course, this isn't to say mushrooms are bad, but their primary function is to replenish qi and blood. The three "black treasures" of mountain delicacies have similar effects, but none of them clear the lungs!
So, what's the deal with pears? In fact, pears can only help us relieve coughs and reduce phlegm. As for clearing the lungs, pears have no such effect! It's merely something we imagined through their cough-relieving properties. Of course, eating more pears or mushrooms is beneficial, as long as it's not in excessive amounts!
II. Cramps mean a calcium deficiency.
When I first heard this news, I was so excited I couldn't sleep. I loved playing basketball, and when I exhausted myself, I would get cramps at night. Later, when I discovered this rumor, I would drink milk or chew calcium tablets after every workout. But it turned out this method didn't work!
I've personally experienced this myth and tested its credibility. Haha, the effect was zero. Now, I just want to find the person who spread this rumor and teach them a lesson! To soothe my fragile heart, which had been deceived for three years, and let them know why the flowers are so red. If they show themselves, I promise I'll only tickle the soles of their feet with a calligraphy brush, not beat them up.
III. Drink strong tea when drunk.
In fact, drinking strong tea after being drunk has no effect at all. If you're going to vomit, you can't escape it. I just tried this method a month ago. I was drunk for three days and drank 10 large cups of strong tea, but it had no effect whatsoever. So this rumor mostly fools people who love to drink!
IV. Drinking alcohol in the winter warms you up.
I've never been affected by this one because I never feel cold in winter. More importantly, you can't actually warm up by drinking alcohol alone, especially with chilled baijiu. You might as well have some soju. Okay, come to think of it, I've never tasted what soju is like!
V. Pregnancy makes you dumb for three years.
I remember this rumor scared the wife of the brother next door, and she didn't dare to have a baby. Only after this rumor was confirmed to be false did she dare to give birth to a healthy baby. I don't know who started this rumor, but the person who did was truly "vicious." This rumor has caused countless anxiety for new mothers and fathers, making them live in constant fear.
VI. Looking at green things is good for your eyes.
This one has been around since elementary school. Teachers often said if your eyes got tired from reading or class, look at the green scenery outside the window to protect your eyes. So I would naively turn to look out the window, only to be called out and scolded. Okay, I'll stop rambling. In reality, looking at green things isn't good for your eyes, especially when looking at them up close. If we want to protect our eyes by looking at scenery, it's best to look at the starry sky or a colorful flowerbed. A single color or a simple light source cannot protect our eyes!
VII. Homemade fruit masks for whitening.
As I'm writing this, I suddenly feel like I've tried everything. Looking back, I was so silly and naive back then. The truth is, fruits that are eaten are the best fruits, because only after digestion are the nutrients in the fruit absorbed. If you just make a mask, you'll just be wasting the nutrients in the fruit! The bottom line is: "Fruits that are eaten are the best fruits!"
