Scientists from Harvard Medical School conducted experiments on the sperm-killing effects of three different formulations of Coca-Cola currently on the market. Their findings were as follows:
Consumption of cola-type beverages by newly married men can directly damage sperm and affect male fertility. If damaged sperm fertilizes an egg, it may lead to fetal malformation or congenital defects.
Medical researchers added viable sperm to a measured amount of cola beverage and measured the sperm's survival rate after one minute. The experiments showed that the new formula of cola could kill 58% of the sperm, while the older formula could kill all of the sperm.
They also issued a warning to newly married women regarding the consumption of cola-type beverages, advising them to drink less or not at all. This is because most cola-type beverages contain caffeine, which is easily absorbed through the placenta into the fetus, endangering vital organs such as the brain and heart, and can also cause fetal malformation or congenital idiocy.
Therefore, experts recommend that newly married couples and those wishing to have children should not only avoid tobacco and alcohol but also refrain from drinking cola-type beverages.
