Three Things to Know About Eating Nuts

Nuts are often eaten as snacks and are also very nutritious, but there are three things you must know about eating nuts.

1. Freshness

Nuts bought should be eaten as early as possible and not kept for too long. Nuts contain a lot of oil, and nuts that are kept for too long will undergo oxidation, developing a "rancid" smell. This not only reduces their nutritional value but can also accelerate aging in the body. Nuts that have been stored for a long time are also prone to mold, and moldy nuts can produce aflatoxin, a highly toxic substance that can lead to liver cancer.

2. Original Flavor

Nuts come in original, roasted with salt, sugar-coated, salt and pepper, and even coated in sugar. It's best to choose original-flavor nuts. Roasted with salt or salt and pepper can cause you to unknowingly consume too much salt. Those processed with sugar can lead to excessive calorie intake. Some that are heated for long periods at high temperatures may also alter the nutritional components of the nuts, producing excessive trans fatty acids.

3. Limitation

Nuts contain a large amount of fat. Do not consume more than 30 grams of nuts at a time, otherwise, excessive calorie intake can easily lead to weight gain.
