Doing four things in the morning is highly beneficial to your health, keeping you full of energy and spirit all day long.
1. Drink a glass of warm water
Every morning after waking up and before eating, drinking a glass of water is both a supplement and an effective purification for the body. In the early morning, the stomach is empty. The water stays in the stomach for a short while, and except for a small amount that is absorbed, more than 80% is absorbed into the bloodstream in the small intestine. The newly consumed water can promote the body's metabolism, cleanse the system, remove pollutants, and ensure cellular metabolism. For the elderly, it can help dilute the blood, reduce blood viscosity, promote blood circulation, and prevent cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.
2. Gargle with warm water
After a night's sleep, bacteria that remain in the mouth multiply in large numbers. Gargling in the morning can promptly clear most of these pathogenic microorganisms, eliminating them in their nascent stage and preventing the occurrence of various diseases. It is not advisable to use saltwater for morning gargling because while it kills bacteria in the mouth, it also damages the oral mucosa that has a defensive function, which creates conditions for the rapid recovery of bacteria.
3. Splash your face with cold water
This is an effective exercise for the blood vessels of the upper respiratory tract mucosa, which can enhance resistance and reduce the incidence of colds. It can also reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles. It is best to start this exercise at the end of summer. Every morning after brushing your teeth, fill a washbasin with about 70-80% cold water. Take a deep breath, then bend over and immerse your face in the cold water (not over the ears), slowly exhale the inhaled air through your nose, then lift your head out of the water to inhale. Repeat 10-20 times. Then, use a warm towel to rub your cheeks, forehead, and neck back and forth until the skin turns red and warm.
4. Open the windows for ventilation
In a poorly ventilated room, some bacteria and viruses can float for up to 30 hours. Opening the windows in the morning for ventilation can promptly drive away the stale air, making it difficult for various bacteria and viruses to multiply and survive. This not only keeps the air fresh but also prevents respiratory infections. If you live in a heavily polluted area near a road or factory, it is best to open the windows after 9 AM.
