Two types of food require special attention for women who are trying to conceive.

Preconception care, this is an emerging term. In order to have a healthy baby, more and more married men and women of childbearing age are starting to pay attention. Especially in terms of diet, extra attention is needed. Today, I will introduce two fruits and vegetables that are best not to eat during pregnancy.

One, Carrot

Can carrots affect pregnancy? You may not believe it, but after reading the following explanation, you will understand.

Research has found: A large amount of carotene can affect the synthesis of progesterone in the ovaries, leading to reduced secretion, and in some cases, it can even cause amenorrhea, anovulation, and menstrual disorders.

This condition was first discovered in patients with anorexia nervosa. Even though they were not eating and had no menstruation, blood tests revealed high levels of carotene in their blood. Later, it was found in some female patients who did not have anorexia nervosa that eating a large amount of carrots could lead to high carotene levels in the blood, causing abnormalities such as infertility, amenorrhea, and anovulation. Researchers explained that this might be caused by carotene interfering with steroid synthesis. There have been cases where doctors found that in six women who experienced menstrual abnormalities due to excessive carrot consumption, their ovaries were orange-yellow, known as "golden ovaries."

From this, it can be seen that carrots should be handled with caution during the preconception period.

Two, Papaya

The papaya fruit is rich in papain, vitamins C and B, calcium, phosphorus, and other minerals, making it very nutritious. It also contains large amounts of carotene, protein, calcium salts, proteases, and citrinase. It helps prevent and treat hypertension, nephritis, and constipation, aids digestion, treats stomach ailments, promotes metabolism, has anti-aging effects, and also has beauty and skin care benefits.

Although papaya has so many benefits, it is considered a "cold" natured food. Therefore, women who have a "cold stomach" or a weak constitution during the preconception period should not eat too much of it, as it can easily cause diarrhea or a "cold stomach." Additionally, papaya contains a special protease that can interact with progesterone, causing the progesterone responsible for embryo implantation in the uterus to lose its function, thus achieving a contraceptive effect.
