Creative Uses for Expired Yogurt

Watering Plants

Using expired yogurt to water plants is the first waste utilization method that comes to everyone's mind. However, this method has a little trick. Usually, watering plants with yogurt will form white lumps on the soil surface, affecting the aesthetics of the flowers. Therefore, dilute the yogurt with water in a 1:1.5 ratio first. Then, use a trowel to dig a small hole, pour in the diluted yogurt, and cover it with soil. This allows the flowers to better absorb the nutrients from the yogurt.

Skin Care

As long as the yogurt is not expired for too long and has no strange odor. The lactic acid in yogurt has the effect of softening the stratum corneum. Therefore, yogurt can be used for bathing, washing the face, and washing.

However, I still recommend using it to wash hands, especially in winter. Expired yogurt can also be used to protect hands, making the skin fair and tender and preventing it from chapping. First, apply the expired yogurt to your hands and rub it repeatedly several times, then rinse with clean water, and finally apply hand cream.

Hair Care

Similar to method two, expired yogurt can also be used for hair care. First, wash your hair, then take an appropriate amount of yogurt and dilute it with a little water (the water should not be too much to avoid the yogurt losing its viscosity). Apply the diluted yogurt to your wet hair, massage your wet hair with your fingertips for a few minutes, then rinse with clean water to make your hair black and shiny.

Cleaning Floors

Dilute expired yogurt with water in a 1:2 ratio, then soak a dry cloth or mop in it. After the cloth or mop has fully absorbed the diluted liquid, squeeze out the excess water to wipe (mop) the floor, which can make the floor as shiny as if it has been waxed.

Tip: Similarly, this method can also be used to wipe old furniture that has lost its luster.

Cleaning Leather Shoes

Expired yogurt can be used to polish leather shoes, preventing the leather from drying and cracking and serving to care for the leather. First, use a shoe brush and a polishing cloth to remove dust and stains from the leather shoes. Then, apply an appropriate amount of expired yogurt to the surface of the leather shoes. After the yogurt air-dries, use a clean cloth to wipe the leather shoes, which can make them as shiny as new.

Tip: Similarly, this method is also suitable for leather coats, leather jackets, leather stools, leather sofas, etc.

Making Fish Bait

Regardless of whether the yogurt has expired for too long or has a strange odor, for friends who love fishing, expired yogurt is also a good recipe for making fish bait. Take expired yogurt and dilute it with water, then mix it with powdered glue to make fish bait, which makes the bait more attractive to fish and easier for them to bite the hook.
