Pregnant women should be mindful about their water intake. Are you drinking it right?

Water, the foundation of life, is of extraordinary significance to us. Women are made of water, and pregnant women are no exception. Pregnant mothers need to drink enough water to meet the needs of both themselves and their babies. But did you know, dear mom-to-be? There's a right way to drink water during pregnancy.

Five key points for healthy hydration during pregnancy.

One: Ensure adequate water intake.

Daily intake of sufficient water can help pregnant mothers alleviate pregnancy discomforts such as edema and constipation. The recommended daily water intake for an expectant mother is 1000~1600 ml, but in the third trimester, it's best to keep it under 1000 ml. An expectant mother can drink water every 2 hours or so, about 200 ml each time, for a total of 5 to 8 times a day.

Two: Be mindful of the type of water.

When choosing water, pregnant mothers should be very careful. Although types like ultra-pure water and purified water are very clean, they are not suitable for pregnant mothers. Long-term consumption can lower a pregnant mother's immunity and is detrimental to the baby's development. It is recommended that pregnant mothers be cautious and opt for tap water or mineral water instead.

Three: Do not drink repeatedly boiled water.

When water is boiled repeatedly, the concentration of harmful substances such as silver nitrite, nitrite ions, and arsenic increases. This is extremely detrimental to the health of both the mother and the baby and, in severe cases, can lead to blood poisoning. Therefore, pregnant mothers should avoid drinking repeatedly boiled water.

Four: Do not drink unboiled water.

Unboiled water may contain carcinogens and is not suitable for pregnant mothers. For the health of both yourself and your baby, always ensure the water is fully boiled before drinking.

Five: Do not drink water stored for more than 24 hours.

After water has been stored for over 24 hours, the chlorine-containing substances in it can break down into nitrites, which is harmful to both the mother and the baby.

A glass of warm water in the morning has many benefits. Pregnant mothers can drink about 200 ml of warm water before breakfast to help relieve constipation.
