Three Taboos of Eating Kelp

Chopped Chili Seaweed

There are many benefits to eating seaweed, but it's not suitable for everyone. Please note the following three taboos:

1. People with a weak spleen and stomach, and patients with hyperthyroidism, should not eat seaweed because of its high iodine content, which can worsen their condition.

2. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should not eat too much seaweed, as the iodine it contains can enter the fetus's or infant's body through the bloodstream or breast milk, causing thyroid dysfunction.

3. Do not drink tea immediately after eating seaweed, as drinking tea or eating astringent foods can affect the body's absorption of iron from seaweed, leading to high iron levels in the blood.
