The diseases of our bodies are mostly due to the long-term accumulation of toxins within us. Whether it's diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, or cancer, almost all of them are the result of long-term toxin buildup. If we can eliminate the toxins from our bodies, we can naturally become invulnerable to all poisons and free from all illnesses.
The healthy detox meal introduced here is formulated by Mr. Lin Guangchang, a health education expert from Taiwan, based on years of clinical experience.
I. How to Eat a Detox Breakfast
For breakfast, you should eat 1 serving of fruit + 2 servings of vegetables + 1 serving of sweet potato + 1 serving of rice. In other words, we divide each meal into 5 equal parts, with the ratio of fruit, vegetables, sweet potato, and rice being 1:2:1:1. For severe or chronic patients, it is recommended to divide the breakfast into 6 equal parts, increasing the sweet potato to 2 servings.
One Serving of Fruit
Fruits that are more suitable include apples, guavas, bananas, oranges, pears, and grapes. However, it is important to note that they must be local, in season, and abundant, and should be eaten with the skin on. The fruits consumed by severe and chronic patients must be inspected by professionals before they can be eaten.
Two Servings of Vegetables
Vegetables are alkaline, so we should consume a larger proportion of them, about two servings, to easily achieve an acid-alkali balance. The breakdown and absorption of all food depend on enzymes, and almost all vegetables and fruits contain a large amount of enzymes. However, enzymes are destroyed at temperatures above 54°C. Therefore, in every meal, more than 50% of the vegetables must be raw.
Principle for Choosing Vegetables: Focus on the four main categories: roots, stems, flowers, and fruits. These four categories of vegetables have less pesticide and contain high levels of minerals and energy. Leafy greens and sprouts are also good foods, but they are not suitable for patients in the recovery period (especially for friends living south of the Yangtze River). Additionally, women should not eat raw radishes; they should be cooked with the skin and leaves.
Sweet Potato
Sweet potato (yellow-fleshed sweet potato) is an excellent food because it is rich in minerals and contains almost all the amino acids and B vitamins that the human body needs. It is best eaten steamed, and be sure to eat it with the skin on. This can help lower cholesterol and regulate gastrointestinal diseases.
One serving of brown rice (or other grains like small red beans, black rice, Job's tears, and soybeans).
II. A Breakfast for Women to Stay Younger with Every Bite
What kind of breakfast do you most desire? First, it shouldn't take too long to prepare and should be quickly available in a fast-paced morning. Second, it must be easy to digest; hard-to-digest food will cause discomfort all day and reduce work efficiency. Third, it needs to be served warm. Eating warm food in the morning helps the body, which is not fully awake, to recover its energy. If this is the case, you might consider a cup-of-soup breakfast.
1. A cup of fresh yogurt + two slices of whole wheat bread + one tomato
Yogurt and tomatoes are very high in vitamin A. Vitamin A is good for the eyes. Professional women who often use computers or work at a desk should pay special attention to eye care. At the same time, the main function of vitamin A is to promote the regeneration of skin cells, increase the renewal speed of deep skin cells, strengthen the connection between cells, make the skin elastic, and regulate the keratinization process of skin cells.
2. A bowl of red date and corn congee + a chicken sandwich
Corn is very high in carotene and various vitamins. Red dates can replenish blood and energy, and effectively enhance immunity. Add a chicken sandwich, and this breakfast combination can fully replenish your energy to handle a heavy and busy morning's work. It is the top choice for professional women with a high workload.
Perhaps many office workers are still troubled: "I understand all this, but it's really hard to put into practice."
In a busy morning, spend 15 seconds to prepare a quick-to-make cup soup. With eight different flavors, made with nutritious and delicious ingredients like corn, mushrooms, pumpkin, tomato, potato, chicken, and spinach, rich in milk, and accompanied by crispy bread bits, the texture is mellow and smooth. For seven days a week, you can have a new variety every day. Convenient, nutritious, and rich—now you have no excuse to skip the most important meal of the day.
III. What Time Should Breakfast Be Eaten?
Medical experts point out that because dinner is eaten too late, when people are sleeping, most organs get sufficient rest, but the digestive organs are still digesting and absorbing the food left in the gastrointestinal tract from dinner, only gradually entering a rest state by early morning.
If you eat breakfast too early, it will inevitably interfere with the rest of the digestive system, causing the digestive system to remain in a state of fatigue and constant stress, disrupting the rhythm of gastrointestinal peristalsis.
Therefore, it is most appropriate to eat breakfast 20 to 30 minutes after waking up around 7 a.m. Additionally, the interval between breakfast and lunch should be about 4 to 5 hours, which also suggests that breakfast is best eaten between 7 and 8 a.m.
IV. How to Eat in Ten Minutes for Breakfast
Sandwich + Hamburger, excessive fat
Both of these foods are composed of meat, vegetables, and bread, which are nutritionally adequate, but the biggest problem is the high fat content. Meat, especially fried meat, is high in calories, so it is best not to eat this type of breakfast more than 3 times a week. Moreover, on days you eat such a breakfast, it is best not to eat fried foods for lunch and dinner.
Youtiao + Soy Milk, the most filling
In this breakfast, the shaobing (pancake) and youtiao (fried dough stick) belong to the staple food category, and soy milk is a plant protein, so you have both carbohydrates and protein, which can basically meet the energy consumption for a morning. Youtiao and youtiao are fried foods. Although they provide a strong sense of fullness, they are high in calories. It is not recommended for overweight people. For those with a standard body shape, try to limit it to no more than 3 times a week. Also, do not add too much sugar to the soy milk.
In addition, soy milk has a lot of water and low protein content, so it's a good idea to add an egg, or replace the soy milk with tofu pudding, to ensure sufficient protein intake.
Congee + side dishes, lack of protein
Congee is a semi-liquid food that is easy to digest and absorb, and is favored by the elderly. Among various types of congee, Laba congee is the best. It is convenient to cook several grains together. More importantly, the combination of different grains can "compensate for each other's shortcomings," increasing the nutritional value of the congee.
However, this breakfast lacks protein foods. It is recommended to add a glass of milk. Now, many elderly people have started to pay attention to their calcium intake. If you are lactose intolerant, you can add an egg or mix some minced meat into the congee to add protein.
V. 4 Questions About Women's Breakfast
1. Is it absolutely necessary to eat breakfast?
Breakfast is the most important of the three daily meals. The reason is very simple: every night, the body consumes energy. At this time, the body has to use its stored energy. Therefore, after waking up in the morning, you naturally need a breakfast rich in carbohydrates to replenish this stored energy. Without breakfast, you cannot get new energy to work. Furthermore, if you want to lose weight, you should especially not skip breakfast. Because by lunchtime, to compensate for the missed breakfast, you will inevitably overeat, which will affect your weight loss results.
2. What kind of breakfast should women usually eat?
Women's breakfasts are increasingly leaning towards low-fat foods. They prefer to eat grain-based foods. From a nutritional point of view, this trend should be encouraged. For example, a breakfast of a small bread with butter, jam, and cheese, plus an egg, contains about 7 times more fat than a breakfast of whole milk, fruit, and cereal.
3. Why are grain-based breakfasts so popular with women?
A good breakfast should include three things: grain products (such as whole wheat bread, eight-treasure congee, black rice bread, wo wo tou, fennel bun, etc.), fruit, and dairy products. It is best to drink low-fat milk. Whoever eats such a breakfast gets three benefits at once: abundant carbohydrates, low fat, and abundant vitamins and minerals.
4. Pay attention to the intake of vitamins, folic acid, and iron.
A woman's breakfast aged 25-40 should meet at least 50% of her daily needs for vitamins and folic acid, especially vitamin C and iron. Today, most women do not get enough iron and folic acid from their food. If possible, this can be supplemented from lunch and dinner. Meat, offal, millet, and fennel can meet a person's daily need of 10 to 18 milligrams of iron. Vitamin B can be obtained from lean meat, fish, liver, whole wheat bread, potatoes, and peanuts.
