One pound of sweet potato is worth two pounds of carrot.

The UK's Daily Mail reported on April 26 that the latest research suggests we should eat more sweet potatoes and papaya. Additionally, we should consume more cruciferous vegetables and blueberries. One pound of sweet potatoes is equivalent to two pounds of carrots.

Researchers focused on phytonutrients, which can promote the function of the eyes, bones, heart, brain, and immune system, and reduce the risk of heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. Researchers noted that while carrots are rich in beta-carotene (which is converted into vitamin A in the human body), sweet potatoes contain twice the amount of this substance. Similarly, one piece of papaya contains 15 times the amount of beta-cryptoxanthin (a component of vitamin A) found in a glass of orange juice.

Many people do not consume enough fruits and vegetables daily, believing that simply meeting the recommended five servings per day is sufficient. However, the latest research emphasizes that it's not just about quantity, but also the quality of fruits and vegetables that needs to be improved. Dr. Williams of the British Nutrition Foundation stated that as long as a food is part of a varied and balanced diet, there is no such thing as a "superfood".
