Many people have the habit of storing food and then reheating it when they want to eat it. But, what if you were told that reheating certain foods can actually make them toxic? Would you still do it?
1. Potatoes
If reheated, potatoes can lose their nutritional value. Even after heating, if you leave them at room temperature for a long time, they can become toxic, easily causing nausea and poisoning.
2. Rice
In the case of rice (brown or white), the way you store them can cause problems. Raw rice contains spores that can easily turn into bacteria, and they can survive even after the rice is cooked. When reheated rice is left at room temperature, it can multiply and may produce toxins that cause diarrhea and vomiting.

3. Eggs
Heating eggs at high temperatures can make them toxic, which can lead to damage to the digestive system after consumption.
4. Oil
Grapeseed oil, walnut oil, avocado oil, hazelnut oil, and flaxseed oil all have very low smoke points. This is why, when you reheat them, they can easily become rancid. So, avoid using them for cooking, baking, or frying. Instead, drizzle them over your meals towards the end of cooking to enhance the flavor.
5. Spinach
Like many other leafy green vegetables, spinach is rich in nitrates and iron. When reheated, these nitrates can be converted into nitrites and other known carcinogens (substances that can cause cancer in living tissue).
6. Radishes
Radishes are often used to make soups. As they also contain nitrates, they can become toxic if reheated.

7. Mushrooms
Mushrooms are rich in protein, and when heated, their structure can easily change, which can be harmful to our bodies. When you eat reheated mushrooms, be careful of your digestive system, and even serous cardiac problems.
8. Celery
Celery has a high nitrate content, so it can become toxic if you reheat it. Once reheated, the nitrates convert into nitrites. When too much nitrite enters the body, it increases the risk of methemoglobinemia. This is a condition where nitrites in your blood interact with hemoglobin and iron, preventing them from carrying oxygen to your living cells. Complications can include seizures or even death.
