Recently, an expert group from Fukuoka University in Japan assessed the vegetable and fruit intake of 763 pregnant women with an average age of 30. The results showed that mothers who consumed green and yellow vegetables, citrus fruits, or foods rich in carotene during pregnancy had children who were less likely to develop eczema. Therefore, it is recommended that expectant mothers consume more foods rich in the antioxidant carotene (found mostly in red and orange fruits and vegetables) and vitamin E.
